Beta 2.0


Beta 2.0 is the finalized version for my senior project, but that doesn't mean I can't update the game in the future!

Here's a list of major changes:

  • Several HUD elements added and polished
  • New option button on main and pause menu with volume sliders for the music and SFX
  • How to play button on main menu
  • Wipped up a quick main menu theme, will definitely modify and extend it if I keep working on the game
  • Updated all fonts and text effects in-game
  • Fancier effects for floating points and powerups text
  • Added simple particle effect for player's mussel flash
  • Added clickable pause button on game HUD and a resume button in the pause menu

Known bugs and issues:

  • Touching the walls can make the player start slowly floating around without input, if this happens touch the walls again and he'll probably stop moving
  • Shotgun doesn't have a perfect spread sometimes (I'll call it a feature for now)
  • Ghost pathfinding AI sometimes breaks when touching the player
  • Powerup pickup sound effect is sometimes very loud (no idea why this could be)
  • A minor bug when occasionally picking up the shotgun launches a random projectile from the player
  • A minor issue where clicking the pause button fires a shot
  • Pressing escape while in Itch.io's fullscreen mode leaves fullscreen but doesn't pause/unpause the game.

    I look forward to your feedback for this version and I will consider working on the game fulltime when I do not have other schoolwork to deal with!
